So today, has been one of THOSE days. You know the kind. The sort of day where the mustard squirts on your favorite jacket. The kind of day where you seem to run into everyone you haven't wanted to see in ages and everything that happens to be immobile seems to run into you. You really just couldn't wait to get home to settle into your favorite chair and pick up the paper or your favorite magazine when...your mother calls...and your brother...and by the time you're off the phone it's really just too late to do much pampering besides crawling into bed and hopefully waking up to a day that isn't one of THOSE days...
However, there is something you can do for yourself before you jump into that sea of blankets called bed. You can take a few deep breaths and listen to your breathing. Try not to control it, but just listen to the rhythmic patterns and slowly relax your muscles starting with your feet...then your legs...followed by your stomach, arms, hands, fingers...lastly your neck and head. At least by listening to your body and letting it go before bed you can release all of those tensions before taking them with you under those covers. Now you can really dive into a good night's rest.
